The Pros & Cons of Adult Modelling

Updated: Nov 24, 2024

Being an adult 'content creator' or adult model can be an excellent way to earn a large amount of money over a short period of time and enable you to have more control over your life as well as an abundance of free time to do the things you've always wanted to do.

However, since the universe has a tendency to balance things out, you should expect as many negative's as there are positives... Firstly let's talk about the cons to hopefully prepare your mental state as much as possible if things go wrong.

Cons

  1. Online Abuse Of course, no matter how good you look or how perfect you are, there will always be people who target you with abuse online, whether it's name calling, threats of violence or something else. This abuse is never acceptable and should be reported to the platform or appropriate authority. Try your best to mentally prepare yourself and we recommend that you don't reply/repsond to abuse because your reply is exactly what the abuser wants. Ignore, block, report is always the best course of action.

  2. Increased Risk Physical Sexual Assaults A number of performers have reported that they have been sexually assaulted in public places (bars, clubs, on the street) by people who have recognised them as an adult content creator and believe they are allowed to touch the model inappropriately because they do adult modelling. Unfortunately some people think that the model is, for example, 'a slut for everyone to use because you post sexual content online'. Obviously not the case and such behaviour should be reported immediately to the authorities. This should of course never be accepted as 'part of the job' but if you are mentally prepared for such rare instances, the psychological damage caused by an assault may be reduced. Seek counselling if you are suffering from psychological damage caused by an assault and don't ever blame yourself.

  3. Risk To Employment You'd be surprised how many employers really don't care what you do in your personal time but chances are you'll run into an employer who doesn't allow that kind of activity, which may result in your losing your current job or being barred from certain professions in the future. If your plan is to make money from adult modelling and you're not fussed about regular employment, then this may not be an issue but just remember you may need a regular job in the future.

  4. Negative Reaction From Friends & Family This is the number one reason for not doing adult modelling according to the many potential adult models we have spoken to, as they hold the opinion of their friends and relatives in such high regard. If you are one of the many adult models who do it anyway hoping that their friends and family will never find out, you're playing a risky game and you should mentally prepare yourself for the day that they find out, because they most probably will. You could always beat them to it and tell them (you'll get more respect this way) or you never know, you may get away with it. Either way, be prepared for everyone to know and learn to accept that. Try to teach yourself to feel confident and happy that they know, even if their reaction is negative. The best case scenario is that they will accept it and be proud of you. The worst case is that they won't and will cut contact. This is why you must be prepared for every scenario when dipping your toes into the world of adult modelling.

Pros

  1. Money, Money, Money Money is without a doubt the most obvious 'Pro' when it comes to adult modelling, as even a relatively unknown model can quite easily earn the equivalent of their monthly salary from a standard job in a fraction of the time. Even these smaller amounts can be life changing because it allows you to have much more free time (see No.2) and the harder you work and more time you put in, the more money you will make, naturally. From hundreds to thousands, from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands and beyond, there really is no limit as long as you put in the hours, work and effort like you would with any business.

  2. More Free Time You can't buy it and you can't repeat it, so make the most of it by turning your future into the one you want to live. Spend time with those most important to you, use it for more self-reflection and discover what you really want out of life. Explore the world, help people in your community or chill out more and play computer games. Your time is yours and how you use it is up to you and should never be judged by others (unless you're like a serial killer or something, in which case maybe try something more positive).

  3. Control Over Your Body & Life Gone are the days when you had to put up with managers, producers and photographers having control of your images and videos. Now with platforms like OnlyFans and Fansly, as well as social giants Twitter and Instagram, you can be your own producer/manager/photographer and take complete control of your image. Not happy with that photo? Delete it. Happy with it? Post it. Tall, short, plus size, XXS and everything in between, the world wants to see you for you. Something different about yourself? Be proud and show it off. Your body, your life, your choice.

  4. Confidence Boosting Having even a small following of dedicated fans can boost your confidence significantly, as many will see you as the 'perfect person', a God or Goddess if you will. Positive comments will flood in (and certainly outweighs the negative comments), increasing your confidence and ergo your happiness. Feeling down? Just chat to your followers for an instant boost.
